Tuesday, March 24 - Nature Break

Good morning, Vikings and Friends!

It looks like we have a week of sunshine to enjoy, and I encourage you to get outside and soak it up!! Take your new journal with you. Remember to record the date, time, and weather at the top of the page. Then, if you’re stumped on what to write about, try these three excellent prompts—

I notice. . . .(then describe anything you see, hear, smell, or feel)

I wonder. . . .(what questions do your surroundings prompts? Just say “I wonder” out loud, and see what comes to mind)

It reminds me of. . . write down anything and everything you think of. Mourning dove calls remind me of my grandparents’ home, winged elm seeds remind me of Tie Fighters, mountain laurel scent reminds me of hunting outside for Easter eggs as a child.

Try working through these three prompts every single day. There are no wrong answers, and the more you train yourself to observe like this, the more wonders of everyday nature you’ll discover.

And of course, I’d be delighted if you choose to share some of your observations with me!
