SUMMER ACADEMICS


Nolan Catholic High School is offering summer programs for course credit and enrichment. All classes will be held at Nolan Catholic High School. Counselors are available to meet with students and parents to discuss possible areas of summer study.


Classes offered for Course Credit

Credit courses are open to all incoming and returning NCHS students. The cost is $400 per class.

To be eligible for credit, a student must be enrolled for all 25 days, meet the attendance requirements, and earn a passing grade. Final exams will be administered at the end of summer school. No auditing is permitted. Students are allowed three absences and will be withdrawn on the fourth absence.

    • Intro to Digital Media — 1/2 credit (technology)

    • Functional Health — 1/2 credit (required for graduation)

    • Communication Applications — 1/2 credit (required for graduation

Available Courses

Introduction to Digital Media (0.5 credits. Students must earn 1 full technology credit for graduation))

This course explores the emerging field of digital art and media content creation. Introduction to Digital Media explores the Elements of Art; Principles of Design; Color Theory & Digital Color Models; Digital Media Management; and Digital Media Creation. Photoshop CC and Adobe Premiere CC are used heavily. This introductory class is a prerequisite Animation I, Animation II, and Graphic Design & Illustration.

Grade: 9 – 12     Credit 0.5      Prerequisite: None

Communication Applications (required for graduation)

This course introduces the art of public speaking, including speaking techniques, speech structure, and outline formation. Students write and present speeches and learn to gain confidence in public speaking.

Functional Health (required for graduation)

This course is designed to promote wellness, health literacy, and positive health behaviors in young adults. It focuses on all aspects of health: physical, mental, emotional, and social. Students will learn how to create long-term goals to reach optimal health, as well as how to evaluate their current health. Students will become Heartsaver First Aide CPR AED certified through the American Heart Association.

Enrichment courses (non-credit courses)

New and returning Nolan students may register for enrichment classes   Classes are held Monday through Thursday for two weeks.  The cost is $200 per class.

  • New students joining the Viking community are encouraged to register for this one-week orientation course. The cost is $100.
