Professional career After graduating from Syracuse, Barbour signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1970. In his first professional season in the NFL, he was the backup to Terry Bradshaw and he did not see any playing time. In 1971, Bradshaw was injured, so Barbour saw more playing time, but Bradshaw still remained the starter. In 1972, the Steelers won the AFC Championship Game with Bradshaw at quarterback.
