RoboVikes Team 4206

Success at “FIRST Robotics” contest

From head robotics coach Ray Depta:

“We competed in Dallas this past weekend. The team and the robot were much more competitive, finished ranked 13th out of 39 teams, and were the 8th seed alliance captain, but were eliminated in the quarter finals by what ended up being the winning alliance.

The students thought that this was the end of their season.  However, we had a very exciting surprise.

We were awarded the Chairman's Award!  This is the last awarded given at the event and is the most prestigious of all the awards.  It is  chosen by a group of judges to the team that they feel best exemplifies the principles of FIRST robotics.  John Conlin (c/o 2020), Alex Alvarado (c/o 2020). and Brenden Ewert (c/o 2022) were the three students who worked hard to put together the presentation about our team; however, the award reflects the hard work and support of all of the Robo Vike alumni and their parents, as well as the current students, mentors, Dr. Scheer, and the Nolan Catholic High School community as a whole.

The best news is that by winning this award, the team automatically gets to compete in Austin this next weekend at the District Championship!”

Congratulations, Robo Vikes team!
