Junior Student Council at Union Gospel Mission

Christmas at the Mission this year was a huge success thanks to many of you. It took everyone doing their part to make this year such a blessing to all the residents of the Union Gospel Mission.

Over the Christmas Break Nolan Catholic had 156 volunteers work over a combined 1,500 hours in the month of December to accomplish our goal of providing gifts for the residents of the Mission and our visitors to the warehouse on Christmas Day.  We provided full gift bags for our 255 residents with donated items from many individuals and groups.  We also filled the warehouse with 84 stuffed adult gift bags and many toys for the families who would come to the Mission on Christmas Day for a warm meal.

After spending many hours setting up the store and stuffing all the bags, we helped 28 moms and dads who live at the Mission shop for and wrap gifts for their 60 children.  We also helped 50 adults who live here without their kids shop for 84 children and grandchildren that they would see during the holidays.

In addition, 61 volunteers sponsored 71 children who live at the mission and shopped for, wrapped and prepared their Santa bags with the help of personalized wish lists.

Your help in the afternoon with the adult shoppers was fabulous!  You all helped the ladies and gentlemen make the right gift choice and then wrapped it beautifully for them!  It was a rush of people with quick work and organization required and you guys did a great job!
